As you probably guessed, my recent trip to Lush resulted in this weekly favorite. I briefly went over the Lush Fresh Face Mask in my Five Must Have Products from Lush Cosmetics, however I think it deserves a more in depth review.
As mentioned in my previous post, Lush Cosmetics is this wonderful company that specializes in all natural, cruelty free, and vegan beauty products. Each one of their products is made with fresh or all natural ingredients and is eco-friendly. The Lush Fresh Face Mask is no exception to this standard. In fact, the masks are only made in store and sold the same day. Since they are made in store with fresh produce and contain zero preservatives they cannot be shipped, making them hard to come by. However if you are near one of the Lush retail stores, definitely try to swing by and pick one up; you won’t be disappointed.
Lush’s Fresh Face Masks are packaged in the standard black plastic screw lid containers as many of their other products. I normally have issues with packaging like this as it becomes a germ house after continued use, however since the size of Fresh Face Mask packaging only allows for about 2-3 uses and is meant to be chilled, this predisposition doesn’t bother me at all. Catastrophe Cosmetic uses two unique ingredients: fresh blueberries and chamomile blue oil which makes the mask full of moisturizing antioxidants which nourish and brighten your skin.
Prevent disasters by taking regular care of your skin with our deep-cleansing, nutrient-rich blueberry mask. The little blue bulbs are packed with vitamins, and blended into calamine, rose absolute and chamomile blue oil to soothe redness, irritation and cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. This one is wonderfully soothing on sensitive skin. Treat your face to Catastrophe Cosmetic as often as you can to keep your skin looking its best.
I popped my mask in the fridge for a few hours, then treated myself later that night to a relaxing facial after studying for my midterm. I did notice that the formula of this mask in comparison to the others that I have seen is that it appears more watery in the tub. This is because the mask separates a bit as it contains a lot of the natural juice found in the blueberries and needs to be mixed well before you apply it. The mask is pretty thick but adheres well to the skin so no need to worry about dripping or making that big of a mess. I applied the product pretty liberally and probably only used just under half of what was in the tub . The mask starts to dry in about 5 minutes and you can feel a nice tingly feeling as it does. I removed the mask after about 10 minutes. I did notice that it was a bit messy to take off. Other than that, the mask removed relatively easily and I noticed that my skin felt very light and clean. The next day, all the problem areas and blemishes on my skin had either disappeared or were much less noticeable than usual.
- IT WORKS!
- Refreshing, cleansing, and brightening.
- Multiple uses from 1 purchase
- All natural ingredients
- Vegan and Cruelty Free
- A whole line of masks appropriate for all skin types
- Messy to remove
- Needs to be refrigerated, expires within 2-3 weeks, and only available in stores. : This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I understand that it is made with all natural and fresh ingredients but I guess it would be an inconvenience.
Lush’s Fresh Face masks retail for $6.95USD per tub. The packaging holds approximately 2.1oz which translates to approximately $3.30USD per ounce. I think that the product is price very reasonably as it lasts from 2-3 weeks and isn’t something that you use every day. Plus they essentially have a ‘buy 5, get one free’ deal. If you bring back 5 clean tubs you get to pick one Fresh Face Mask for free!
